Rod was in the DJ booth at Retro nightclub, Nic was out with friends, and on 6 May 2006 their paths finally crossed. What followed included Rod travelling from the Central Coast to Sydney almost daily, weekly flowers that had Nic’s dad joking he owned a florist, and, 12 years later, a Niagara Falls proposal. After their original 2020 wedding plans were knocked sideways by COVID, this celebration at Pier One’s Water Room had plenty of catching up to do.

The reception moved from a Wedding Couple Photo Challenge and Ultimate Scavenger Showdown into speeches, live band sets and dancing, before a surprise fireworks display for Nicole lit up the night, followed by a farewell circle and sparkler exit.

Nathan, where do I even begin with you? You are simply amazing. You had the entire night under control from start to finish, and everything flowed so smoothly because of you. I honestly can not thank you enough !
Your energy, your timing, your humour, your warmth… it was all absolutely perfect. You read the room so effortlessly and knew exactly when to lift the energy, when to slow it down, and when to let the special moments truly shine.
You made our guests feel welcome, you kept everything on track, and you created such an incredible atmosphere. So many people have told us how fantastic you were — and we couldn’t agree more. You are, without a doubt, the best MC by far.
