Thu and Sam go way back. They met in Year 1 at Immaculate Heart of Mary, were paired for Holy Communion, and at the Year 6 grad party, Thu famously dodged a dance because of boy cooties. A near-miss first date in 2015 turned into the real thing in 2017, and by 2020, it was a yes. They’re delightfully different: he was the “popular” metal screamer, she was the piano-and-violin nerd; he plays soccer, she studies and crushes badminton; he’s a chef, she’s absolutely not; he once avoided subtitles, she sorted that out. Now it all fits.
Their celebration at The HIGHLINE Venue in Bankstown had that big Western Sydney energy with plenty of heart. Sydney wedding MC Nathan Cassar kept the night smooth and fun, the kind of effortless hosting that lets family and friends settle in and enjoy themselves.
Three moments nailed the vibe. First, the couple’s entrance with a full lion dance lit up the ballroom and had everyone on their feet. Later, Nathan ran a cheeky “Find Thu” game that had guests pointing, laughing and learning a few inside jokes. And for the first dance, the room lifted their phone torches and turned the floor into a soft sea of light while these two just soaked it in.
