Between the rows of apples and the soft country light of Roma Orchard in Omadale, Brooke and Nathan’s day felt like it was made for the Upper Hunter. Laughter carried across the lawn, music spilled from every corner, and the whole celebration had that effortless Hunter Valley charm. With MC Nathan Cassar keeping the energy warm and the timeline tight, guests settled into a night that felt part garden party, part live gig, all heart.

Their love began in the halls of church in 2014, a meeting that came with a cheeky case of mistaken identity. Nathan thought Brooke’s beautifully mixed heritage leaned South American, a playful moment that sparked conversation and a friendship built on music, faith and plenty of banter. He dropped careful hints, she held the line, and together they wrote a slow-burn story that was worth the wait.

Favourite moment: the Ikea pitch. Among flat-packs and meatballs, Nathan’s spontaneous date idea set the wheels in motion. A Christmas nudge later, and 16 December 2016 became the start of something real. From there, they learned each other’s worlds, Brooke cheering on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Nathan saddling up for horse riding, and even surviving Zumba with a grin. His direct nature, the same one that shone in those early days, led to honest chats, funny missteps and a connection that only deepened.

Seven years on, their engagement brought everyone together under the trees at this Upper Hunter wedding venue, and it just made sense. The music, the laughter, the family feels, it all belonged here. “Nathan Cassar, not only do you share such an awesome name with my now husband, you became like part of our Spanish/Chilean/Indonesian clan with your charisma, personality, humour and suave(mente :P) nature! I did say in my original ABIA competition comment that our family and friends would love you, and did they ever! They couldn’t stop speaking so highly of you!!! Again, just like in my original comment, you brought such joy, positive vibes, and fun to our reception. You also got to know us as a couple and that became very evident as you got involved in dancing with us, chatting to our family and friends, and overall executing the wedding of our dreams! You really put in an immense amount of effort to ensure our day would run smoothly!

Going over and beyond to the point you were ready to put on your work clothes and help out if need be! Travelling the 4hr distance, being easy to contact, encouraging us for being so organised, being present at the ceremony to navigate some of the proceedings such as pre-processional and post-ceremony photos, and so much more – all of this helped make us less stressed and the day run seamlessly! The fact that you gained no profit on this and STILL put in a huge amount of effort, truly reflects your work ethic and is what we really respect you for! Thank you so much for choosing us as your prize winners. My Nathan couldn’t get over how much you gave us as part of your prize. We are truly grateful and highly respect your level of professionalism!
